My final dream is to possess enough wealth that I could provide for my family and friends for the rest of our lives.
For the most part where people live is based on their need to be employed and make money to support themselves. In my perfect world the only reason that my friends don’t live near me is that they need to live where they do so they can have jobs.
If I were to win the lottery tomorrow, (which would be tough since I don’t play), my next goal would be to send mail to everyone of my friends and tell them to pack their shit up, because they are coming to live with me. Construction would then begin on a compound on the Farm or somewhere, in which everyone had their own dwelling area, but shared a group of common areas. I would essentially build my own neighborhood. :)
No one who lived there would want for anything. I would wake up in the morning and have everyone that I cared about right there. Just hang out and be like, “Hey, I’m going to the lake. Anyone want to go?” Anyone that stepped up goes, everyone else does whatever they want. The next day ask who wants to play some Xbox. Everyone does whatever they want. I guess in someways Norristock is my small time attempt at that. I guess that is why I try so hard to get people to show up to it. I mean if I can’t even get them to show up for a couple days how the hell am I supposed to get it done for the rest of their life?
If I were to die before the others I would have a trust or something setup to continue the system. I would hope that everything would continue to work out and if my friends are truly the people that I think they are, then I have a feeling it would.
In my world my friends deserve to be happy and not have to work, and I will do anything in my power to accomplish that goal. Whatever they want to do, whatever they want to work on, whatever they want to play, it would be there.
I have said it to most of them before I think and I have meant it everytime I have said it, none of my friends ever need want for a place to live or food for their plate. All they have to do is show up at my door and my place is their place.
I know it seems like an idealistic goal and what not, but I would try my damnest to make it work and only at the point where everything failed and everyone hated me, would I call it a failure.
I was talking with P last night, and she couldn’t believe that I would just offer up a place like that to my friends. She tried to relate it to me as asking if I would be ok with her coming home one day and saying that her friend was going to be living with us for some reason. My answer was that it didn’t matter if I was ok with it or not. They were her friend and that was enough for it to happen.
In my opinion if you are a friend, and I mean a true friend, then you are family in everything except DNA and that means that your problems are my problems until you tell me you aren’t my friend anymore.
